Since 1956, United Way of Coastal Georgia (UWCGA) has been in the business of creating meaningful and tangible impact.
We are a volunteer driven organization with more than 100 volunteers who donate their time and talent to serve on committees which help make a difference in our communities by embracing our core values:

As the leading facilitator of community enrichment for Glynn and McIntosh counties, United Way of Coastal Georgia (UWCGA) envisions building a stronger America by mobilizing our communities to improve people’s lives.
The mission of UWCGA is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities in Glynn and McIntosh counties. UWCGA works everyday to create positive changes in the community on multiple fronts by bringing diverse people and resources together to address the most urgent issues that our communities face. Through unique approaches and partnerships with 23± agencies, UWCGA seeks to mobilize resources beyond dollars to invest in the building blocks of a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.
Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life. That’s why United Way’s work is focused on the building blocks for a good life:
- Education– Helping children and youth achieve their potential.
- Income – Meeting the basic needs and enhancing the ability to build assets and become self-sufficient.
- Health – Providing services, support and resources to improve the health, safety and wellness of individuals and families.
Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about changing systems to help all of us. We are all connected and interdependent. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, when people are healthy.
We are committed to mobilizing local leaders and the communities we serve to meet identified needs and to invest dollars strategically. We link funding to measurable, improved results. The growth of non-profits, changes in the workplace, the global economy, and many other factors have led UWCGA to pursue what is most crucial – achieving sustained community change.
Our strategies include identifying and building on community strengths and assets, funding high impact services, advocating for public policy change, and collaborating with others in support of these and related issues of our community. Our partners include schools, youth, families, government policy makers, businesses, organized labor, financial institutions, voluntary and neighborhood associations, civic groups, community development corporations and the faith community.
United Way’s goal is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of these problems. Living united means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future.
