Community Investment Committee:

The Community Investment Committee makes funding recommendations to the Board. Their responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the fund distribution process, including reviewing agency funding applications and reports
  • Meeting with representatives from each agency applying for funding
  • Developing funding recommendations
  • Strengthening the non-profit sector of the community by determining and providing needed and appropriate resources (beyond funding) to non-profit agencies
  • Strengthening United Way’s relationship with human service organizations in the community
  • Acting as a networking link among various human service organizations, both those that are funded by United Way and those that are not.

Community Relations/Marketing

The Community Relations/Marketing Committee's responsibilities include:

  • Presenting United Way's image to the public
  • Building relationships in and with the community
  • Communicating the impact United Way’s work has in and on the community
  • Educating the public about philanthropy and ways to engage in thoughtful charitable giving
  • Working through the media and personal contacts to meet these aims
  • Working to recruit new members for the Board of Directors on an ongoing basis

Finance

The Finance Committee 's responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of financial transactions
  • Development of financial operational guidelines
  • Review and approval of monthly financial statements
  • Approval of annual budget for the organization, making recommendation to the Board
  • Oversight of the annual audit process .

Strategic Vision

The Strategic Planning Committee is responsible for:

  • Developing a statement of strategic initiatives for our United Way.
  • Developing action steps with timelines and staff and volunteer responsibilities, to ensure that the plan will be implemented
  • Regularly monitoring progress on the strategic plan, and reporting this progress to the Board
  • Overseeing the development and progress of the organization’s annual work plan

Campaign Committee

The Campaign Committee is responsible for:

  • developing all collateral materials for the Corporation (brochures, annual reports, invitations, tec.);
  • developing and launch media campaigns; oversee website content and format; create campaigns for special events and giving initiatives; organize and conduct annual campaign for funds for the Corporation;
  • overseeing subcommittees planning special event fundraisers;
  • creating input from staff, board members, and partners;
  • strategic planning for growing and managing resources and for resource planning;
  • planing and launching new giving initiatives working in conjunction with other committees of the Corporation such as planned giving and market development;
  • providing leadership support as requested from the President/CEO on applications for grants to private, state and federal sources.

Volunteerism Committee

The responsibilities of the Volunteerism Committee include: 

  • overseeing the planning and execution of volunteer projects such as Day of Caring and other event or projects assigned by the Executive Board.
  • assisting the President/CEO in recruiting and utilizing volunteers to further the work of United Way and other community partners.
  • Oversight and leadership for United Way of Coastal Georgia’s Volunteer Center and its activities and strategies.
