Greetings and I hope you are Living United! By now you may have begun to see the United Way’s slogan for this year’s campaign throughout our community, which is Live United. To Live United means many different things but basically it embodies the belief that at the end of the day we are all one community and if we can unite together to instigate and support positive changes, then we can transform our community to be a better place to live, work and raise our families. It is based on the very basic principal that if you reach out a hand to one you can influence the condition of all in your community. So the important question is: “What can you do to Live United?” And the answer is: “Give, Advocate & Volunteer!”
It is my belief that by financially supporting the United Way of Coastal Georgia’s Annual Campaign you are truly influencing the condition of all in our community. If you choose to GIVE, then you will be supporting over 20 programs that address so many critical needs in our community. The work of United Way and these programs have a profound impact on the lives of over 30,000 of your fellow citizens, and your contribution to the United Way campaign is the most effective way of addressing so many community needs.
It is also the United Way’s hope that you will take the time to become familiar with the Agencies that provide all the programs and services that your contribution supports and then you will truly understand the difference they make in the lives of so many. You will become an ADVOCATE for them, and therefore an ADVOCATE for positive changes in our community. By sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm you will influence other to become involved.
To VOLUNTEER is to give your most precious gifts and that is your time, passion and talents. Each one of our community’s non-profits needs the time and expertise of volunteers like you. Please take a few moments to reach out to any of these organizations and offer what ever amount of time that you can. You can also visit www.handsoncoastalgeorgia.org, United Way’s Volunteer Center to see a list of upcoming community projects for which you can VOLUNTEER your time and talents.
A final thought, as I am writing this article our nation is literally experiencing some of its toughest financial challenges, and that creates hardships and personal challenges for each of us, but please remember that the folks that depend on the services that your United Way contribution funds can’t wait for the economy to be better, and they will be hit the very hardest for the most basic of needs such as food, shelter and health. Our community and its children, families and individuals need you to do what you can more than ever.
Live United,
