Why should I be involved with the Women’s Giving Alliance?
Because…
While many of us are enjoying climbing the corporate business ladder becoming successful business women, one in three families with a female head of household lives in poverty.
While many of us can sleep well at night resting next to our loved one, more than 126 children and 121 women stayed at the Shelter for Battered Women last year when their mothers gained the courage to leave an abusive relationship.
While many of us can head for work confident our children are in excellent day care, the search for quality daycare is next to impossible for a family in poverty. Childcare, reaching as high as $9,984.00 annually is not an option for a family living on $20,650 a year.
What can you do? Get involved.
The Women’s Giving Alliance is a circle of women dedicated to promoting and recognizing philanthropy and community engagement among women who are involved with
United Wayof Coastal Georgia.
In 2006 an inaugural event was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brubaker, with a portion of the proceeds going to establish a volunteer center designed to recruit, orient and link volunteer s with opportunities in our community. The remainder of the proceeds were used to establish an endowment to benefit future generations of women and girls and to financially support the work of nonprofit agencies in our community through
United Way.
This year the WGA has set as their initiative to sustain women’s and children’s causes. If you would like to join the Women’s Giving Alliance or to volunteer , please call 912-265-1850
